Do CBD Gummies Work for Pain Relief? Whats the Hype?

Its no secret that in todays modern world, CBD gummies are sweeping the nation. Are they candies? Are they vitamins? Whatever they are, they are definitely trending wouldn’t you say?

Even my grandmother is getting magazines and newspapers in the mail gushing over these interesting little treats! Everyone is asking the big question.

What Are CBD Gummies?

Well, to be completely honest with you..YES! They are like little candies. Just with a twist.

These are just one variation of the many edibles of the CBD world but, by far, the most popular and with good reason. They can be consumed for medical or health reasons, or just recreationally and they are very similar to gummy bears regarding ingredients. A lot of them are even shaped like the famous childhood candies!

CBD gummies are usually made just like gummy bears candy using gelatin, sweetener, food dyes etc. The only special ingredient added guessed it! CBD!

Most CBD gummies on the market today use either:

  1. CBD Hemp Oil
  2. CBD Concentrate – usually comes in oil or wax form
  3. CBD Isolate – CBD in powder form

Regardless of the form of CBD your gummies use, it should be extracted from specific cannabis plants. Particularly those bred with low traces of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and high counts of Cannabinidiol (CBD).

How Do They Work and What Do They Do?

Along with the fun and great taste of them, it is said that they produce a relaxed, calming sensation. You can take them either at night before bed to fall asleep with ease, or they can be taken in the morning to help with the daily strain on your body throughout the day.

Everyone is different, of course, so it may take anywhere up to 2 hours to work. You don’t necessarily feel it work creeps up on you, more or less, and after a while you can sense a soothing feeling coming over you like a warm blanket.

CBD Gummies

A Little Science

The reason behind the pain relieving claims is that of the analgesic effects of the CBD used in gummies.

The CBD binds with certain receptors in our brain. This causes our neurons to basically stop sharing information (like pain) to other neurons throughout the body without adapting to the pain killer itself, thus building no tolerance and working just as good every time.

Other Benefits and Side Effects

Don’t worry, all CBD gummies are non psychoactive so there is no “high”. It will, however, have all the other same great benefits that an oil would. Besides pain relief, you may also feel pretty sleepy.

Remember, the gummies are literally infused with CBD.

It is much more effective and long-lasting consuming it this way, as a digestive aid, since the stomach will break it down easily. If you were inhaling CBD, it would take longer to kick in and you’d have to consume more that way.

So CBD edibles really are the quickest way to results.

Any possible side effects are minimal and consist mostly of dry mouth, nausea or diarrhea. This is not very common when taken is more likely to happen when taken with certain medications. Some studies show that very high doses can disrupt liver enzyme levels so be sure to read your package labels and stick to recommended doses.

Dosage and Age Restrictions

Now, although I say to stick to recommended doses, there really is no right dosage. This all depends on the person.

A number of factors are involved when it comes to your own specific dose such as:

  • type of product
  • concentration levels
  • your body type
  • your tolerance
  • reason for need like pain or insomnia

The best thing to do when trying CBD gummies after consulting a doctor, of course, is to start small. Work your way up to the desired effect and, simply put, don’t over do it.

There aren’t any age restrictions on CBD since it is not a mind altering substance. Some parents are now using certain CBD gummies as part of their childrens dietary supplement along with daily multivitamins. The results are the same, relaxed and calm with a sense of well-being. Be sure to consult your childs pediatrician before anything.

Gummy Bears

Legalities – Where Can You Buy Them?

CBD became legal in 2018 when the Agriculture Improvement Act was passed. It allows us to make awesome products derived from hemp grown in the US with no more than 0.3% THC.
CBD gummies made with pure CBD Oil
You do not need a prescription to buy CBD products. We are seeing tons of stores such as Walgreens, GNC and Walmart just to name a few, and even some local businesses investing in so many interesting CBD products. While these major companies are stocking up, your best bet on purchasing a wide variety of CBD gummies online.

The Take Away

Although many more tests and studies will need to be done to fully understand CBD and all its properties and benefits, the best way to start your research is with you, the consumer. Talk to a doctor to see what works for you because this could be the one thing that helps.

I’ve personally tried CBD gummies and I believe that they do what they claim to do. For me, the hype is definitely justified.

As a caregiver, I experience many muscle and back aches that CBD gummies have seemed to diminish with ease. So don’t just take my word for it.

Try it and see the amazing results for yourself. Let me know in the comments below how they worked for you!

  1. Hello – didn’t realize there were gummies options (maybe just not in Australia as yet) but we can now legally use CBD within the different oils available. A wonderful – natural product that helps with many health issues – mine was arthritis in my ankle – and CBD just an awesome product so thank you – and I’ll look for travellers to the USA 🙂

Hi Sandra, thanks so much for your comment. Yes there are gummies now, I’m sure they will be branching out worldwide with time but for what is available now its still a great help. I will be putting some new products up soon, maybe you’ll find some you like 😉

  2. I have been researching the CBD oils. I was in an accident 2 years ago and have a bulging disc and an annual tear in my lower back as well as some unexplained pain in my upper back. I have been living with terrible pain with no aide for relief other than heat/cold and too much aspirin. I can’t do all the things I love anymore and have a hard time sleeping. I think I am ready to try these gummy’s. Thank you for sharing and answering the many questions that I had.

Oh wow, Tracy Im sorry to hear that. This is the reason why I am so big on CBD. So many people are suffering day in and day out with pain that not many OTC meds help. And no one wants the heavier pain meds with the list of side effects. Hopefully as this site grows you’ll find some really great products to try. Glad I could help 🙂

  3. Look forward to trying CBD Gummies. I enjoy cooking with Hemp seeds because of the protein they have! specially cocoa balls rolled in them.

My Mum has troubles sleeping al the way through at night, might post her some of these to see if it helps at all, she is after all a sweet tooth.

Will, the cocoa balls rolled in Hemp seeds sounds delicious. Id love to try that. I can understand about your moms sleeping issues, my grandmother is the same way. CBD has really helped her. The gummies are perfect for those who have a sweet tooth. Its a nostalgic candy as well. As this site progresses, maybe you’ll find some products that your mom would love 🙂

  4. Wow, I actually had no idea that these existed. So interesting!

They sound like such a great idea and I would love to try them but unfortunately, I don’t think they are allowed in Australia as yet? I will have to look into this though.

I know so many people that would benefit from taking these 🙂

Awesome article Sabrina, keep up the great content!
